Three held in abduction case in Noakhali

NOAKHALI, Jan 8, 2021 (BSS) – Police arrested three persons this morning in connection with the abduction of a Saudi expatriate from Chatkhil Bazar on December 25, 2020.

The arrested were identified as Salah Uddin Kamran alias Akash, 20, son of Amin Ullah of West Soshalia area under Parakot union in Chatkhil upazila, Babu Hossain, 30, son of Hafiz Patwari of Alipur village under Darbeshpur union in Ramganj upazila of Laxmipur district and Didar Hossain Jani, 18, son of Bani Amin of the same area.

According to Md. Masud, an expatriate of Soudi Arabia,a man and a woman took him to an unknown place on December 25, 2020 when he left his house for Chatkhil Bazar and got on a CNG on Chatkhil-Khilpara road from Majjatpur area.

After being taken away for some time, 10/12 more people joined them and took him to a secluded area where beat and injured him for demanding Taka 10 lakh as ransom money.

Masud paid Taka 1.53 lakh to the abductors through various means including bKash after contacting his family and relatives.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chatkhil Police Station Anwarul Islam said the expatriate Masud filed a case against eight people with mentioning the names of four.

“Three accused, including Salah Uddin Kamran alias Akash, were arrested this morning after conducting raids in different places on the basis of the bKash number,” the OC said, adding that the court sent them to jail this afternoon.
