Development made everywhere in CHT: Bir Bahadur

BANDARBAN, Jan 08, 2021 (BSS) – Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Minister Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing, MP, today there is no place in the Chittagong Hill Tracts where development has not taken place.

“The present government is development-friendly. Unprecedented development has been achieved in the Chattogram Hill Tracts during the tenure of the present government. As a result, the CHT area has witnessed tremendous development in all sectors including education, health and communication,” he said.

The minister said this after inaugurating various development projects implemented by the CHT Development Board at Rajbila Union in Bandarban Sadar Upazila here.

The minister added that there are a vested quarters who do not want the development of the mountains or hilly areas.

They are always hindering the development of the mountains through violence, he said, adding that in the past, no government thought about the CHT, thus the hill tracts remained lagged behind from other parts of the country.

He further said that all the ongoing development projects in the three hill districts including Bandarban will be implemented quickly and the hilly people will enjoy the benefits of these development projects.

Additional Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Pal, Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman AKM Jahangir, Executive Magistrate Ratan Kumar Adhikari, Project Director of CHT Development Board Md Abdul Aziz, Executive Engineer of Bandarban Unit of CHT Development Board Abu Bin Md Yasser Arafat and other government officials were present.

The minister also laid the foundation stones of two projects and inaugurated nine projects at a cost of Taka 3.65 crore for the implementation of the CHT Development Board.
