Hasan asks BNP leaders to get out of negative politics

CHATTOGRAM, Jan 1, 2021 (BSS) – Information Minister and Joint
General Secretary of Awami League (AL) Dr Hasan Mahmud today asked the
BNP leaders, including its general secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam
Alamgir, to get out of negative politics and talks and prepare for the
next general elections.

Criticizing the remarks of Mirza Fakhrul made on the eve of the New
Year, he said that BNP leaders including Mirza Fakhrul utter the same
word at the beginning of every New Year. “In fact, their main purpose
is to create chaos and fish in troubled waters,” he added.

Dr Hasan stated this after distributing prize of Sheikh Russell
Anudh-11 Challenge Cup cricket tournament final match at the MA Aziz
Stadium here.

Chattogram city AL organized the tournament on the occasion of the
birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur
Rahman.

Greeting all the political parties, including BNP, on the first day
of 2021, Dr Hasan said, “We, the people of the world, could not
breathe normally in 2020.”

“I pray to Almighty ahead of new year so that we can breathe
normally in the New Year and we also can go back to the previous
world,” he added.

The information minister said that there is no alternative to
sports to keep youth and adolescents free from social menaces. “We
need to get our youth and adolescents out of their addiction to social
media and its wave-based entertainment apps,” he added.

Dr Hasan said that the boys of new generation do not go to the field
to play football. “In our childhood, we used to go to the field to
practice sports willingly, but now-a-days the boys have to be forcibly
sent to the field,” he added.

He said Bangabandhu himself was a player and he used to play
football. When Bangabandhu was a student at school level, a tournament
was held between the team led by his father and the team led by
Bangabandhu. In that tournament, the team of Bangabandhu beat the team
of his father.

“Bangabandhu’s two sons — Sheikh Kamal and Sheikh Jamal– were also
players. Sheikh Kamal’s wife Sultana Kamal was the best Athletes of
Dhaka University. The whole family of Bangabandhu was sports and
cultural minded. The Test status of Bangladesh cricket earned during
the tenure of Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he
added.

City AL Youth and Sports Secretary Didarul Alam Chowdhury presided
over the function while Ashek Ullah Rafique, MP, General Secretary of
Chattogram city AL and former Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin, AL city
Organizing Secretary Nomon Al Mahmud, Forest and Environment Secretary
Mashiur Rahman Chowdhury and newly elected president of Chattogram
Press Club Ali Abbas, among others, spoke.

To remember the memory of Sheikh Russell, Chattogram city AL
organized an under-11 cricket tournament. A total of 10 teams took
part in the tournament. The symbolic team is named after the victims
of the August 15, 1975 massacre. Sultana Kamal Cricket Academy and
Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Cricket XI competed in the final match on
Friday. Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni became champion in the tournament.
