VICTORY-DAY-DEMOCRACY-TWO LAST

In a statement today, AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader urged the
leaders and workers of all units of the party and associate bodies
across the country to observe the Victory Day for Democracy in a
proper way maintaining health guidelines.

He also requested the people of all strata to observe the historic day.

After the massive victory in the 11th parliamentary election on
December 30, 2018, Sheikh Hasina, the Awami League President and elder
daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,
formed the government for the third consecutive term.

She took oath as the prime minister for fourth term with 47-member
council of ministers on January 7, 2019.

In the 2018 general elections, the people of Bangladesh gave their
verdicts in favour of pro-liberation force Awami League by casting
their votes for ‘Boat’ for keeping continuity of the country’s
development and progress, said the press release.

The people directly rejected the anti-liberation forces, killers of
August 15, perpetrators of jail killings and August 21 grenade attacks
and communal evil forces.

In continuation of traditional politics of conspiracy, BNP carried
out propaganda centering the polls to mislead the people and to halt
the country’s democratic practice.

The BNP-Jamaat evil alliance launched arson attacks and created an
anarchic situation before and after the 10th parliamentary elections
held on January 5, 2014 to thwart the continuation of democracy. Many
people were killed in the arson attacks carried out by BNP-Jamaat. A
huge number of people who received burn injuries in the attacks are
still suffering untold sufferings.

The Awami League government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is
determined to establish and safeguard the people’s democratic rights
and build a society with the spirit of the great liberation war and
democratic values.

When the country is marching towards its cherished goals on the way
of continuous progress, the defeated forces of the liberation war are
out to hatch different conspiracies to halt the country’s progress and
democratic practices.
