Hasan said it was noticed that when a crisis situation creates in the country as well as in the world, a vested quarter spread rumors and false new exploiting the situation for creating instability and fear in the society.

But, he said, the rumours and false news didn’t works due to the care and strictness of the mainstream media against the rumors and false news. “For this, I would like to give thanks and express gratitude to the people, who are involved in the mass media,” he added.

He said as per the talk show of midnight it seems that there is no development works in the country. But, as per a report of Bloomberg, the reality is that Bangladesh’s position is the top among the South Asian countries in combating the Coronavirus situation and the position of the country is 20th in the world, he added.

“There will be criticism. But the exposure of ulterior motives behind creating confusion among the people would never bring any positive results to a country and a nation as well. The government also needs praise for good work,” said Hasan.

He said the economic position of the country, as per a research organization of the United Kingdom, will be 28th by 2030 and it (position) will be 25th by 2035. And, Bangladesh is one of the country among the 22 countries which is able to keep the GDP growth plus amid the Coronavirus epidemic, he added.

Recalling his long-standing acquaintance and heartfelt relationship with the journalists of Chittagong Press Club, the information minister said the members of the club ‘will remain in my heart’.

CPC general secretary Farid Uddin Chowdhury gave the welcome address with its president Ali Abbas in the chair.

Former Presidents of CPC Abu Sufian and Kalim Sarwar, vice president of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalist Reaz Haider Chowdhury, President of Chattogram Union of Journalist Mohammad Ali and CPC vice President Salauddin Mohammad Reza, among others, addressed the function.
