107 landless families to get houses in Sariakandi


BOGURA, Dec 29, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 107 landless and distressed families of Sariakandi upazila of the district are going to get semi-pucca houses as a gift from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the occasion of the ‘Mujib Borsho’ by next January.

On behalf of Asrayan Project-2 of the Prime Minister’s Office, the Department of Disaster Management (DDM) has been constructing the houses and each of the houses will be built at a cost of Taka 1.71 lakh, said Sarwar Alam, upazila project implementation officer.

Among the homeless people, 28 will get houses in Kajla union, 40 in Hatsherpur union, 4 in Chaluabari union, 8 in Kutubpur union and 27 in Phulbari union.

Sariakandi Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Russel Mia said the construction work of the houses will be completed very soon and the houses will be handed over to the beneficiaries by mid-January.
