President asks universities to stress research works

DHAKA, Sept 25, 2017 (BSS) – President M Abdul Hamid today urged university authorities to give priority to research works following examples of reputed global institutes of academic excellence.

“Research work is a very important in higher studies . . . You must give priority to researches following the examples of universities of global repute,” the President told a delegation of Rajshahi University led by its Vice Chancellor Professor Dr M Abdus Sobhan at Bangabhaban.

He also stressed on increased allocation for research activities in the educational institutions.

President Hamid, also the chancellor of the country’s all universities, underscored the need for extra-curriculum activities including sports in the campuses as well along with the regular academic activities.

The President said good relation between teachers and students was crucially needed for the spread of education while “a congenial atmosphere in educational institutions helps students to be real educated ones”.

President Hamid expressed satisfaction over the academic activities of Rajshahi University as the VC apprised him of the overall development and academic activities of the university.

The RU delegation also invited the President to attend the next convocation of the University.

RU Pro-VC Professor Dr ANada Kumar Saha and secretaries concerned of the President office were present.
