DRU mourns death of Zafar Wazed’s mother
DHAKA, Dec 27, 2020 (BSS) – Leaders of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Begum Rokeya Ismat Ali, mother of Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB) Director General and Ekushey Padak winning journalist Zafar Wazed.
In a condolence message, DRU President Mursalin Nomani and General Secretary Mosiur Rahman Khan, on behalf of DRU executive committee, prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
Begum Rokeya died of old-age complications at her Rampura residence in the city this afternoon at the age of 95.
She left behind four sons, three daughters, two sons-in-law and a host of relatives and admirers to mourn her death.
Begum Rokeya will be buried at a family graveyard at Elliottganj under Daudkandi upazila in Cumilla district tonight following her namaj-e-janaza there.
