LGRD ministry, ICT department ink MoU

DHAKA, Dec 27, 2020 (BSS) -Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Ministrytoday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Information and Communication Technology Department.

Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Md Tajul Islam was the chief guest at the MoU signing ceremony at the conference room of Local Government Department over the usage of 4,000 square feet area on the 5th or 6th floor of the newly constructed complex building at all the upazila parishads.

State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak was present as special guest at the event presided over by Helaluddin Ahmed, senior secretary of Department of Local Government.

Tajul said, “At present, the benefits of information and technology have become the driving force of the economy…. Bangladesh has a lot of potential in this sector compared to other countries of the world. In order to get the maximum benefit of information technology and reach the targets of 2021, 2030 and 2041, all will have to work together”.

Palak said when Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina formed the government in 2008, there was no digital service in the country. But all the households are now getting digital services at their doorsteps.

“The country has become digital today due to the far-sighting vision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her ICT adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy,” he added.
