‘Mujib Barsho’ Senior/Junior Taekwondo kicks off

DHAKA, Dec 27, 2020 (BSS)- ‘Mujib Barsho’ Trust Bank 18th Senior/ Junior Taekwondo Competition has begun from today (Sunday) at National Sports Council Gymnasium, said a Bangladesh Taekwondo Federation (BTF) press release.

Major General Mohammad Enayet Ullah, the current adjutant general of Bangladesh Army, virtually inaugurated the four-day meet as the chief guest.

BTF president Morshed Hossain Kamal presided over the opening ceremony. BTF general secretary Mahmudul Islam Rana and other federation officials were also present in the inauguration ceremony.

A total of 600 taekwondo participants including 400 of men’s and 200 of women’s participants from eighteen district sports associations along with Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Police, Border Guard Bangladesh, Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation, Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothistan, Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Party are taking part in the different categories of the four-day meet.

Organised by BTF and sponsored by Trust Bank, the competition is being held to celebrate the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

State Minister for Youth and Sports Mohammad Zahid Ahsan Russell MP is expected to present in the closing ceremony of the competition as the chief guest on Wednesday (December 30) and distribute the prizes. Youth and Sports Ministry’s Secretary Akhter Hossain will also present as the special guest in the prize distribution ceremony.
