Baridhara stay on course in Federation Cup Football

DHAKA, Dec 26, 2020 (BSS)- Uttar Baridhara Club kept their quarterfinal hope of the Federation Cup Football alive as they beat Arambagh Krira Sangha by 3-2 goals in their second group B match today at Bangabandhu National Stadium here.

In the day’s match, Sumon, Sujon and Mostafa scored one goal each to ensure victory for Baridhara while foreign recruit Chizoba and Nahid netted for Arambagh.

Sumon opened an account for Baridhara in the 24th minute of the match and Sujon doubled the lead scoring the second goal in the 30th minute.

Chizoba however pulled one back for Arambagh in the 37th minute but Mostafa again widened Baridhara’s margin scoring the third goal in the 44th minute of the match.

After the resumption, Arambagh’s Nahid again reduced the margin scoring the second goal for his team in the 75th minute of the match.

Uttar Baridhara dominated the first half and notched their deserving victory while Arambagh were better in the second half but they failed to stage a fight back due to lack of proper finishing.

Earlier, Uttar Baridhara Club made a losing start in the tournament as they suffered a 0-3 goal defeat to Saif Sporting Club in their group opening match.

On the other hand, Arambah Krira Sangha beat Brothers Union Club by 2-0 goals in their opening group match.

Sunday’s matches: Mohammedan Sporting Club limited vs Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra (3.15 pm) and Bangladesh Police Football Club vs Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club at 5.45 pm.
