UGC’s warning notice on ‘Bangabandhu International University’

DHAKA, Dec 24, 2020 (BSS) – The University Grants Commission (UGC)
has issued a public warning notice to make people aware of illegal
activities of a non-existent university called ‘Bangabandhu
International University’.

UGC issued the public notice soon after knowing that someone,
claiming himself as the Vice chancellor of a university ‘Bangabandhu
Digital University’, published recruitment notice in different
newspaper, said a press release here today.

An unknown person, claiming himself as the VC of a non-existent
university ‘Bangabandhu Digital University’, published recruitment
notice on ‘Dainik Karatoya’ and weekly ‘Alapan’ on December 11, 2020.

Earlier, on November 20, 2020, greeting message and sign board was
also published in the same two newspapers with the name of
‘Bangabandhu Digital University’.

No university called ‘Bangabandhu International University’ has ever
been approved by the Ministry of Education or by UGC and even no
proposal has been received so far by education ministry for
establishing a university in the name, read the release.

UGC requested all concerned divisions, departments, banks and
institutions not to take into account the recruitment notices,
congratulatory messages, signboards or anything published in the name
of the so-called Bangabandhu International University. UGC furthered
advised students, teachers, parents, job seekers and all concerned not
to be deceived by such notice.

It is to be noted that through a notification, Ministry of Education
on Wednesday (December 23, 2020) confirmed that the university is not
recognized by the Ministry of Education or UGC.
