Govt working sincerely to tackle natural calamities: Shahab Uddin

DHAKA, Dec 23, 2020 (BSS) – Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Shahab Uddin today said the present government is working successfully to deal with various types of natural calamities, including floods and cyclones.

“The government is relentlessly implementing various adaptations and mitigation measures to reduce the risks of climate change. In this case, if Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates work together to tackle climate change in the interest of their respective people, this activity will be more dynamic,” he said.

The minister said this while interacting with Fatima bint Hazza Foundation Executive Director Maysoon Barber through a video conferencing from the office room of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change at the Bangladesh Secretariat here.

It was organized by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Embassy to Bangladesh.

Expressing interest in working on climate change adaptation in Bangladesh, Maysoon Barber said the UAE is implementing a variety of adaptation activities to tackle climate change, including flood control.

He said that they are involving the youth community including school and college students in this work.

The meeting was attended by Additional Secretary (Development) of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change Ahmed Shamim Al Razi, Additional Secretary (Climate Change) Md Mizanul Haque Chowdhury and senior officials of the ministry.
