Winning start for Bashundhara in Federation Cup Football

DHAKA, Dec. 22, 2020 (BSS)- Holders Bashundhara Kings made a winning start beating old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society by 3-0 drubbing in the curtain-raiser Federation Cup Football that has begun from today at Bangabandhu National Stadium here.

The country domestic football finally backed in action through Federation Cup featuring thirteen top-flight teams after the football activities remained halted in the country since the middle of May in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The winners’ led the first half by 1-0 goal.

In the day’s match, foreign recruit Oscar put Bashundhara Kings ahead in the 43rd minute while after the breather Bashundhara were more organised in the second half when Robson doubled the lead for the holders in the 54th minute of the match.

Alaaeldin of Rahmatganj made it 3-0 when he scored the suicidal goal in the 65th minute of the match.

Bashundhara Kings played good football especially in the second half and notched their deserving victory while the traditional old Dhaka outfit were off-colored on the day and failed to create any real scoring chance.

Bashundhara Kings will play their second and last group match against Chattogram Abahani Limited scheduled to be held on December 28 following the other group C encounter between Rahmatganj MFS and Chattogram Abahani Limited on December 25.

Tomorrow’s matches: Saif Sporting Club vs Uttar Baridhara Club (3.15 pm) and Arambagh Krira Sangha vs Brothers Union Club Limited (5.45 pm) at the same venue.
