Six held with ganja, Yaba tablets in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Dec 22, 2020 (BSS) – Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP)
arrested six drug traders and seized 10 kg of ganja, 46 pieces of Yaba
tablets in two separate raids conducted at different areas of the
metropolis today.

Police officials said that Tazhat Thana police of RpMP arrested four
drug traders and seized 10 kg of smuggled ganja from them from Lalbag
Bazar area in the metropolis.

The arrested persons are: Masud Rana, 28, and Tareq Hossain, 30, of
Golakata Mour in the metropolis, Omar Farooque, 20, and Ershad Ali,
28, of different villages in Hatibandha and Kaliganj upazilas
respectively of Lalmonirhat district.

In another raid led by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police of
RpMP (DB and Media) Uttam Kumar Pathak, the Detective Branch (DB) of
RpMP arrested two persons from in front of Prince Hotel near Public
Library ground in the metropolis.

“The DB police team seized 46 Yaba tablets, Taka 28,500 in cash
earned from selling Yaba tablets, three mobile phone sets, one
passport and a private car from their possessions during the raid,”
Uttam Kumar Pathak told BSS tonight.

The detainees are: Masudur Rahman Sarker Kanchon, 52, of village
Kishamat Sherpur in Gangachara upazila of Rangpur and Md. Miju, 24, of
Hajipara area in Rangpur metropolis.

Two separate cases were filed today with the Kotwali and Tazhat
police stations of RpMP in these connections under the Narcotics
Control Act, 2018.

“Later, the arrested drug traders were sent to the jail hajat after
police produced them before a Rangpur court this evening,” Pathak
added.
