MANIKGANJ, Dec 14, 2020 (BSS) – People from all walks of life in the district today observed the ‘Martyred Intellectuals Day’ paying rich tributes to the intellectuals who were brutally killed by the Pakistan occupation forces and their local collaborators at the fag-end of the country’s Liberation War in 1971.
The observance began through placing wreaths at the Shaheed Smriti Soudho on behalf of district administration and police administration.
Deputy Commissioner SM Ferdous, Superintendent of Police (SP) Rifat Rahman Shamim, Civil Surgeon Dr. Anwarul Amin Akando, Chief Executive Officer of Manikganj Zilla Parshad Durre Shawaz and heads of educational institutions in the town offered the floral wreaths on the portrait of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
A virtual discussion was also held on this occasion. Deputy Commissioner S M Ferdous was present as the chief guest on the discussion.
