Over 23.78 lakh students to get free books in Ctg
CHATTOGRAM, Dec 3, 2020 (BSS)- Despite Corona pandemic, the government will distribute two crore 36 thousand 736 free books to the 23 lakh 78 thousand 298 primary and secondary level students of Chattogram district from the beginning of New Year.
Although there is no book festival in the school on 1st January like every year to prevent the transmission of corona virus, these new books will be handed over to the students in compliance with the health rules.
District Primary and secondary education office officials told BSS such information.
According to the officials of the district primary education office, a total of 45 lakh 98 thousand 139 new books will be distributed to 10 lakh five thousand 729 students of four thousand 364 primary schools of Chattogram this year under the supervision of the district primary education office.
“On the other hand, 15,302 students of 81 primary schools of English version will get 80,178 new books. Besides, one lakh 61 thousand 714 new books will be given to one lakh 61 thousand 714 pre-primary students. A total of 11 lakh 82 thousand 745 in all primary level students will get 48 lakh 40 thousand 31 new books for free of cost this year,” the sources added.
A total of 14 lakh 45 thousand 898 new books have already arrived at Chattogram District Primary Education Office. The rest of the books will arrive by December 20, the District Primary Education Offic sources added to BSS.
Shahidul Islam District Primary Education Officer of Chattogram told BSS that although there are no new book festivals in the school this year due to the Corona epidemic, the district primary education office will distribute new books to the students on the first day of the year maintaining health rules.
He said that the books have started to come in Chattogram from Dhaka, the district primary education office are sending it to the respective upazila education offices for distribution. ” From there, a guide line is being formulated on the process by which the books will be handed over to the students. We hoped that there will be no impact on book distribution due to Corona.,” he added.
Meanwhile, officials of the district education office said that a total of one crore 51 lakh 97 thousand 705 new books will be given to the 11 lakh 95 thousand 553 students of two thousand 287 educational institutions including secondary schools, Ibtadiya and Madrasa’s in Chattogram this year, under the supervision of the district education office, the sources added.
In the first consignment, over four lakh new books have already reached the district education office. The printing press was shut down for a long time due to the Corona epidemic, creating a crisis with the printing of new books. The new books of the secondary school are coming a little slower due to the Corona situation, the concerned sources added.
Mohammad Faridul Alam Hossaini, District Education Officer of Chattogram told BSS that
the secondary books are coming slowly due to Corona this year. However, the concern officials of the education ministry have informed us that all the books will be sent to Chattogram by December.
He said that all the books will be distributed to the students as per the instructions of the health ministry. “We are working to ensure that new books are not delayed due to corona. We want to distribute the new books to the students on the first day of the year,” he added.
