DU rape: 3 Chatro Adhikar Parishad leaders placed on remand

DHAKA, Dec 3, 2020, (BSS) -A Dhaka court today placed three leaders of the Bangladesh Chattra Adhikar Parishad (Students’ Rights Council) on two days remand in a rape case filed by a Dhaka University student.

The trio who have been placed on remand are- Mohammad Saiful Islam, joint convener of Bangladesh Student Rights Council, Nazmul Hasan Sohag and Mohammad Nazmul Huda, Vice-President of the DU branch of the student organization.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahidul Islam granted two days remand for each when the three accused were produced before the court today.

Earlier on the night of September 20, a student of Dhaka University (DU) filed a case against seven people at Lalbagh Police Station.

Among the accused, Nurul Haque Nur was mentioned as an ‘Abettor’ in the case.

The principal accused in the case is Hasan Al Mamun, convener of Bangladesh Chatro Adhikar Parishad.

Apart from Nur and Mamun, the other accused in the case are council leaders Nazmul Hasan Sohag, , Mohammad Saiful Islam, , Mohammad Nazmul Huda and Abdullah Hill Baki.
