Antigen test for COVID-19 begins on Saturday: DGHS

DHAKA, Dec 3, 2020 (BSS) – The government has decided to begin antigen test for detecting COVID-19 cases for free on Saturday (December-5) in an effort to increase testing capacity to fight the deadly virus.

“Initially, the antigen test will be carried out in 10 districts…. this test will be performed in all districts of the country in phases,” Additional Director General of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Nasima Sultana told BSS today.

The ten districts are – Gaibandha, Panchagarh, Joypurhat, Jashore, Meherpur, Brahmanbaria, Patuakhali, Munshiganj, Madaripur and Sylhet.

The DGHS sources said it will take 15 to 30 minutes time for performing the antigen test. Health workers have been given necessary training for performing the test properly, they added.
