DHAKA, Dec 1, 2020 (BSS) – Eminent writer, researcher, historian and
retired professor of History Department of Dhaka University Dr Ratan
Lal Chakraborty passed away in the early hours of today.
He was 71.
He breathed his last at city’s Papular Medical College Hospital
around 1:40am after testing positive for COVID-19, his son-in-law
Abdul Malek told BSS.
On November 7, Ratan was admitted to Papular Medical College
Hospital as he was suffering from diabetes and kidney related diseases
before testing his all family members positive for COVID-19.
Professor Ratan Lal was cremated at Postagola Mahashasman in the
capital today.
He is survived by his wife and a daughter.
In a condolence message, Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Dr
Akhtaruzzaman expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of
Professor Ratan Lal.
