BCB not worried about cricketers’ bad performance

DHAKA, Nov 30, 2020 (BSS) – The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is not in hurry to evaluate the performance of the cricketers right at this moment as the Bangabandhu T20 Cup is at early stage, said chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu.

He rather prefers to give the players more time. After the play-off, team performance as well as individual performance can be evaluated, said Nannu.

Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo is watching the performance of the cricketers sitting on the field. The chief selector is also there.

Eight matches so far have been played in ‘Bangabandhu T-20 Cup and although the performance of the bowlers is good, something big has not come from the batsmen yet.

However, Minhajul is not worried about the players bad performance at the moment.

“Only three games of each team were played. It is difficult to evaluate the performance of the players right now,” Minhajul said here today.

“Then again it is T20. Here you can’t expect the players to do well in every match. Even then there must be balance. It is also important to know the body language of the players. At the moment, they are in the bio-secure bubble. It’s hard to adapt there.”

Minhajul called for patience in the wake of the players not so good performance. He especially wants to give time to cricketers outside the national team.

“Many of the players here were out of cricket for about eight months. Some players were in the three-team tournament (BCB President’s Cup). The rest of the players are coming to play after about eight months,” Minhajul, also the former skipper of Bangladesh remarked.
