7 get life term in C’nawabganj murder case
CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Nov 30, 2020 (BSS) – A Chapainawabganj court today sentenced seven persons to life term imprisonment and also fined each of them Taka 10,000.
In default, they have to stay in jail for six months.
Additional District and Session Judge Md. Rabiul Islam delivered the verdict in absence of one of them.
The convicted persons are – Dollar, Sweet, Alauddin, Bakkar Ali, Lal Mohammad, Israil and Bahar Ali, all of them hailed from Gangarampur village under Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj district.
According to the prosecution story, following the dispute over a piece of land the aforesaid convicted persons hacked Mukul, son of Rabiul Islam of Pukuria Namotikri village under Kansat union of Shibganj upazila of the district to death at BM Bazar area under the same upazila at around 7 pm on January 9, 2015.
At this Mukul’s father Rabiul Islam filed a murder case with Shibganj thana accusing 11 persons on January 12 of the same year.
Investigating Officer of the case Inspector (Investigation) of Shibganj thana Chowdhury Zobayer Ahmed submitted a charge sheet to the court on August 11, 2015 against 20 persons.
After hearing 10 witnesses, the court announced the verdict in presence of six of the convicts.
Another convict named Sweet had remained absconding. Others were acquitted in the murder case.
