DHAKA, July 7, 2018 (BSS) – Title aspirants England hardly had to sweat as they defeated Sweden by 2-0 goals to move into the semi-final of the FIFA World Cup as their quarterfinal match was played on Saturday in Samara Arena, Russia.

England will now the winner of host Russia or Croatia in the semifinal scheduled to be held on July 11 in Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.

As expected, England began the match on a strong note as they pushed forward for early lead, whereas Sweden looked to be happy sitting back and looking for counter attack.

England confirmed their place in the World Cup semi-finals for the first time in 28 years with what turned out to be a routine 2-0 victory over Sweden.

Goals in either half from Harry Maguire and Dele Alli were enough for Gareth Southgate’s men, who are now only a match away from the World Cup final!

However, England had to struggle hard to beat Colombia by 4-3 in a penalty shoot-out in the round of sixteen match.

England have progressed into semifinals of the World Cup for only the third time, having done so in 1966 and 1990.
