DHAKA, Nov 25, 2020, (BSS) – The Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami
League today called upon all to remain vigilant against attempts to
create confusion and division among people by opposing the
construction of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur
Rahman’s sculpture.
In a statement, Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League president Abu
Ahmed Monnafi and general secretary Mohammad Humayun Kabir made the
call.
According to the statement, a fanatics group has been trying to
foil the construction of a sculpture of Father of the Nation
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by provoking religious sentiments of
the people and fueling the politics of division and misinterpretation.
Calling upon all secular and religious people of the country to
remain united against the conspiracy, they said, many sculptures have
been established in Muslim countries including Saudi Arabia, UAE,
Kuwait, Qatar and Yemen on the history and tradition of their country
and nation.
A desperate group is creating confusion in the minds of the people
by spreading misunderstanding in the name of religion, they added.
“This is not just a threat in the name of Islam. This is a
conspiracy against the country,” said the statement.
Demanding immediate legal action against the people involved in
spreading propaganda, the leaders said, Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami
League will take stringent measures if they do not apologize for their
actions.
