DU brings change in marks distribution for intake test

DHAKA, Nov 23, 2020 (BSS) – The Dhaka University (DU) authorities have brought changes in mark distribution for the entry test of 2020-21 academic session which will be held in eight divisional centres across the country.

A total of 100 marks test exam will be held this year where 20 marks (10 +10) will be reserved to evaluate each aspirant’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) results.

The admission test will be held on the rest 80 marks. Of these marks, 40 will be reserved for written test and 40 for Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), said a press release.

The decisions came from a meeting of admission committee held at NababNawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban today with the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the university Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman in the chair.

Deans of the respective faculties will decide the time and the questions based on the subjects of the examination.

DU Pro- VC (Academic) Dr ASM Maksud Kamal, Treasurer Prof Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, Deans of different faculties, Chairmen of different departments, Directors of different institutes, provosts of different halls and officials concerned,among others, were present in the meeting.

Earlier, the DU Deans Committee decided to hold the university entry tests this year in eight divisional centres across the country to ensure participation of all admission aspirants amid the coronavirus pandemic.

There are now 60,000 seats in 39 public universities across the country. But for the first time ever, the country will see a 100% pass rate in HSC, without any exams.
