Manager Amer Khan tests positive for COVID-19

DHAKA, Nov 20, 2020 (BSS)- National Football team’s manager Amer Khan and its physiotherapist Fuad Hasan Hawlader have been tested positive for COVID-19, Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) general secretary (GS) Abu Nayeem Shohag informed through a video message today.

“The Bangladesh national football team reached Qatar on Thursday on the occasion of their December 4 FIFA World Cup qualifiers match. The players and staff are now mandatory room quarantine in the hotel. After reaching in Doha airport all the players and staff tested for COVID-19 again and among them team manager Amer Khan and physiotherapist Fuad Hasan were tested positive,” the BFF GS said

However, the remaining players and staff of the team were well and fine in health, he added.

Earlier, defender SM Monjurur Rahman tested positive for COVID-19 and he could not fly to Qatar with the rest of the contingent.

The Bangladesh football team’s head coach Day himself also tested positive prior to the second Bangladesh-Nepal FIFA friendly match.

On the other hand, Bangladesh national football team’s skipper Jamal through a video message today said all the players are well and going through a mandatory quarantine in the hotel.

He said they are mentally fit and doing fitness work in the hotel and looking forward to the day for practice again.
