Upholding true national history, healthy culture stressed

RANGPUR, Nov 20, 2020 (BSS) – Educationists and cultural activists at a discussion have stressed on upholding the true national history by focusing healthy Bengali culture in spirit of the War of Liberation to preserve the glorious Bengali heritage and repute.

They viewed this at the discussion arranged by Carmichael Kailejia Education and Cultural Sangshad (CKECS) to celebrate its 11th founding anniversary at a community centre in the city on Thursday night, a press release said here this evening.

Limited colourful programmes were chalked out to celebrate the founding anniversary in the wake of coronavirus pandemic abiding by the health directives.

The programmes included cake-cutting, discussion, rendering of songs and dances and recitation of poems by members of CKECS, who are also students of Rangpur Carmichael College.

President of CKECS Sujit Chandra Karmaker presided over the functions jointly moderated by its members Ripan Roy and Mithila Mokarrama.

Former Head of the Department of Bengali of Rangpur Begum Rokeya Government College and Chief Adviser of CKECS Professor Mohammad Shah Alam attended the functions as the chief guest.

Vice-principal of Rangpur Government Teachers’ Trading College Associate Professor Mst. Lubna Akhter and Associate Professor of the Department of English of Carmichael College and Superintendent of CKECS Dilip Kumar Roy addressed as special guests.

Teachers MA Rouf Khan of Carmichael College and Maruf Hossain Mahbub of Rangpur Millennium Stars School and College, General Secretary of CKECS Mottalib Hossain, its former Presidents Farhaduzzaman Faruk, Nur E Alam Siddique and Khairul Islam Khokan spoke.

The speakers praised students of Carmichael College for founding CKECS 11 years ago aiming at nurturing healthier Bengali culture, tradition and heritage and knowing the true history of the War of Liberation for building a culturally developed Bangladesh.

The chief guest asked CKECS members to be patriotic, know the true history of Bengali culture and War of Liberation and uphold the reputation of Carmichael College for young generations to enlighten them with healthy Bengali social customs and values.
