‘Govt takes steps to strengthen efficiency of fire service personnel’

RANGPUR, Nov 19, 2020 (BSS) – The government has taken various
steps to strengthen efficiency of fire service and civil defense
personnel for ensuing emergency response and management to minimise
loss of human lives and properties during natural disasters.

High officials viewed this today at a function arranged on the
occasion of inaugurating the Fire Service and Civil Defense (FSCD)
Week- 2020 at Rangpur Fire Service and Civil Defense Station (FSCDS)
premises in the city.

Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Zakir Hossain
inaugurated the week by releasing balloons in the function arranged
abiding by the health directives in the wake of the coronavirus as the
chief guest.

Officials of the divisional and district administrations, Rangpur
Metropolitan Police (RpMP), Rangpur FSCDS and voluntary originations,
rovers, scouts and civil society members participated in the function.

The fire service and civil defense personnel demonstrated an
impressive march past on the occasion. |

Presided over by Acting Deputy Director of Rangpur FSCDS Ahidul
Islam, Deputy Commissioner Md. Asib Ahsan and Assistant Deputy
Director of Rangpur FSCDS AKM Shamsuzzoha spoke on the occasion.

Ahidul Islam discussed various types of natural disasters, including
fire incidents, and forwarded suggestions to reduce disaster risks.

“The present government has taken various steps to reduce risks of
disasters like fire incidents through disseminating information,
warnings and early preparedness, training and emergency response
management systems,” he said.

The chief guest said the government has taken comprehensive steps to
further enhance capacity and skills of fire service and civil defense
personnel who are playing vital roles in mitigating various natural
disasters like fire incidents.

“The present government has put maximum importance on procuring
modern equipment and training for fire service and civil defense
personnel to increase their abilities for ensuring emergency response
and managements during disasters,” he said.
