ASEM-MEETING
Fourteenth ASEM Finance Ministers’ meeting tomorrow
DHAKA, Nov 5, 2020 (BSS) – The 14th meeting of the Asia Europe Meeting (ASEM) Finance Ministers’ will be held tomorrow virtually with Bangladesh as the host country of that meeting.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal will preside over the meeting.
The theme of the meeting is “Facing COVID-19: Ensuring a strong, sustainable, inclusive, and balanced economic recovery”.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will give a video message at the meeting, said a Finance Ministry press release.
World Bank Vice President Hartwig Schafer, ADB Vice President Shixin Chen and Deputy Director of IMF Anne-Marie Gulde-Wolf will make key-note presentations at the meeting.
Finance ministers alongside the other high officials of the Finance Ministries of the ASEM countries will attend the meeting.
Besides, the Finance Ministers and the heads of delegation of the ASEM countries will deliver their address at the meeting.
The meeting is expected to discuss about framing a working strategy on how to face the adverse impacts of COVID-19 on the Asian and European countries, required investment to make economic recovery, trade and commerce and employment generation.
