‘Ansar al-Islam’ member held in city
DHAKA, Oct 26, 2020 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested an active member of the banned militant outfit Ansar Al-Islam in Madhubagh area under Hatirjheel police station in the city.
Mohammad Mizanur Rahman Mizan, 30, was arrested with jihadi books, laptops, pen drives and mobile phones used to operate the activities of the militant outfit.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (Media) of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-4) Mohammad Ziaur Rahman Chowdhury told BSS that a team of RAB-4 raided Madhubagh area yesterday afternoon and arrested Mizan.
During preliminary interrogation, the arrestee confessed to be an active member of the organisation.
He said the arrestee was involved with Ansar al-Islam three years back.
Since then he has been holding regular secret meetings with his associates as well as collecting donations and new members for the outfit.
Legal action has been taken against Mizanur, he added.
