Industrial sector sounds good amid COVID-19 :Mannujan

DHAKA, Oct 22, 2020 (BSS) – State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Mannujan Sufian today said all industrial sectors, including garments, are in good shape as a result of timely and firm action taken by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the outset of the corona epidemic.

“Our export earnings are increasing despite the global economic stagnation,” she said while addressing the 7th meeting of the Tripartite Consultative Council (TCC) on ready-made garment (RMG)at a hotel in the capital.

The meeting was informed that the government has approved a policy to implement social security measures for the unemployed and distressed workers in the export-oriented readymade garments, leather goods and footwear industries.

The implementation of the programme will be funded by Bangladesh as well as the development partner European Union and the Federal German Government.
Secretary of the Ministry KM Abdus Salam, Additional Secretary Dr Rezaul Haque, Director General of the Directorate of Labour AKM Mizanur Rahman and Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nazrul Islam and representatives of various ministries and organizations participated, among others, on the occasion.
