ROUF-ANNIVERSARY
13th death anniversary of Rouf Chowdhury tomorrow
DHAKA, Oct 20, 2020 (BSS) – The 13th death anniversary of Abdur
Rouf Chowdhury, one of the organisers of the Liberation War, former
state minister and central leader of Awami League, will be observed
tomorrow.
Rouf Chowdhury is the father of Awami League organizing secretary
and state minister for shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, MP.
He was born on December 28, 1937 in Dhantala under Bochaganj
upazila of Dinajpur district. Rouf Chowdhury died on October 21 in
2007.
Rouf Chowdhury was elected Bochaganj upazila chairman in 1989. He
was elected Member of Parliament (MP) from Dinajpur-1
(Birganj-Kaharol) constituency with Awami League (AL) ticket and
served as the posts and telecommunications minister in 1996.
Bochaganj upazila unit of Awami League has taken an elaborate
programme to observe of the death anniversary of Rouf Chowdhury with
due respect.
As part of the programme, national, party and black flags will be
hoisted at the local party office in the morning. Other programmes
include wearing of black badge, placing of wreaths at the graveyard of
Rouf Chowdhury and doa mahfil.
A discussion also will be held at Abur Rouf Chowdhury auditorium on the day.
