BNP fails to accept Bangabandhu due to its misery of political spirit: Hasan

DHAKA, Oct 14, 2020 (BSS)- Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said BNP has failed to accept Bangabandhu due to its misery of political spirit and also their (BNP) attempts to destroy the real history.

“Day will come when BNP will accept Bangabandhu too. Bangabandhu belongs to the entire nation, not to any party,” he said, addressing a meeting marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at an auditorium of Jatiya Press Club (JPC) in the capital.

Jatiya Ganatanthrik Party (JGP) organized the meeting with its president AKM Mohiuddin Ahmed Bablu in the chair.

National Peoples’ Party chairman Sheikh Salauddin addressed the meeting as special guest while JGP general secretary Advocate Md Majibur Rahman conducted it.

Hasan said Bangabandhu is a revered leader to all Bangalees around the world. For this, Bangabandhu is for all Bangalees, he added.

He regretted that BNP and some other parties don’t want to accept Bangabandhu. “It is reflective of their miseries of political spirit and thought. For this, they have tried to destroy the real history. They have made all ill attempts,” said Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary.

The information minister said one day they (BNP) will accept Bangabandhu and his works too, he added.

He said Bangabandhu had not only created Bangladesh, but also led the country ahead to attain prosperity and development. But he was assassinated, he added.

He said many of today’s generation may not know that the economic growth was 7.4 percent when Bangabandhu was killed. The evil forces at home and abroad who didn’t want the independence of Bangladesh, killed Bangabandhu when the country was moving forward, he added.

The information minister said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina doesn’t believe in the politics of revenge. For this, she did the trial of Bangabandhu killing through general court, not in special tribunal, he said, adding that it took more than 12 years to complete the trial.

He said all the injustices of the state need to be stopped in order to build a developed nation along with improving infrastructures. And a law has been amended within a short time as per the directive of the Prime Minister to stop all misdeeds including repressions on women, he added.

Hasan said the law has been enacted by the Presidential Ordinance without waiting for the parliament session keeping highest punishment of death penalty to stop such misdeeds.

He said, “I saw in the media that BNP criticized this issue. The reason may be the same, they were themselves involved in this lawlessness while in power and all know that how women were raped during their regime. That may
be the reason of criticizing the amendment to this law – this is the question of the people today. This means, BNP does not want injustice to be removed from the country.”
