Shahriar for building social resistance to stop violence against women

RAJSHAHI, Oct 12, 2020 (BSS) – State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam, MP, laid emphasis on forging social resistance to end all sorts of violence against women.

He said the present government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is committed and determined to prevent all sorts of violence, including sexual harassment, against women and children and is working to this end.

By building social awareness among the community people, all sorts of violation and repression against women can be eliminated, he added.

The state minister came up with the observation while addressing the upazila law and order committee meeting at the conference hall of Bagha Upazila Parishad today as chief guest with Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shaheen Reza in the chair.

Upazila level officials, public representatives, officials of line departments including police, RAB, BGB, Department of Narcotics Control and Fire Service and other members of the committee joined the meeting.

State Minister Shahriar Alam said that the service-delivery public institutions – including police and health services should be more people-friendly so that the grassroots people can derive total benefits of the services.

All the government and non-government development entities, public representatives and members of the civil society should come forward and work together to supplement the government efforts of taking the nation forward during the Covid-19 situation.

The state minister advocated for community support to curb all types of the social crimes, including addiction of drugs along with its illicit trafficking and trading, child marriage and cyber crimes.
