Facing disliking of party activists, BNP stays far from people’s pleasure: Hasan

DHAKA, Oct 11, 2020 (BSS)- Strongly criticising the political activities of BNP, Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said as the activists and workers of BNP don’t like their leaders, how they (BNP) will be endeared to the country’s people.

“Activists of BNP threw eggs and stones at the house of party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir . . . A party meeting was cancelled in North Bengal as the two rival groups fought each other. The party leaders who don’t take care of their own party and are disliked by their own workers, how they will be endeared to the countrymen,” he said.

Criticising a comment of BNP leader Nazrul Islam Khan, the information minister said BNP has been telling since 2009 that movement would be waged against the government and it (government) cannot be givenmore time. “But, we saw that whenever BNP talked against the government, then movement started within their party,” said Hasan.

The information minister made the comments while addressing a memorial meeting on six journalists of Chattogram division organized by ChattogramBibhaghSangbadik Forum (CBSF) at the auditorium of Jatiya Press Club (JPC) here.

Hasan said people are the authority to give time to the government and the countrymen gave time for three consecutive times to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the government has been in power for about 12 years.

He said BNP gave 900 nominations against 300 seats in 2018 polls which never happened in the country’s history and there are doubts whether such thing will happen again in the future.

“As per the media news, the reason of giving 900 nominations was that they gave nomination to those from whom more donations have been received. Again, the aspirant, who has given more donation than other aspirants, has gotnomination excluding the previous one,” he added.

This time, the same thing must have happened in the by-elections, the information said, adding for this, the deprived candidate carried out the attack.

“I would like to advice BNP to organize its own party first, to deal with the chaos and protests among its own workers,” said Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary.
