GM Quader calls for reviewing decision on HSC exam

DHAKA, Oct 10, 2020 (BSS) – Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader today urged the government to review its decision regarding not to hold the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations this year.

“The government should reconsider its decision on the HSC examinations for the betterment of meritorious students,” he said.

GM Quader, also the deputy leader of the Parliament, said this while speaking at a meeting of Kushtia district unit at the Chairman’s Banani office, said a press release.

JP Presidium Member and Additional Secretary General of Khulna Division Shahidur Rahman Tepa presided over the meeting.

The JP Chief said the HSC examinations could be taken by maintaining the health rules for proper evaluation of merits as all the offices and business establishments have been reopened.

The results can be prepared by evaluating the results of JSC and SSC examinations, he said adding, “But the government can arrange the examination for those who want to take part in it.”

On Wednesday, Education Minister Dipu Moni announced that the HSC and equivalent examinations will not be held this year and the results will be evaluated based on the students’ JSC and SSC results.

Dipu Moni said the government has taken the decision considering the global pandemic.

About the rape incidents, the JP chief laid emphasis on speedy trial of the cases to ensure justice for the victims. By setting up special tribunals to try the rapists, justice can be ensured for the victims within a short period of time, he added.
