32nd span of Padma Bridge likely to be installed tomorrow

DHAKA, Oct 10, 2020 (BSS) – The 32nd span of the much-anticipated Padma Bridge is likely to be installed tomorrow as it could not be installed today due to heavy current of the river.

“We will make our efforts again to install the 32nd span in the morning tomorrow,” Md. Shafiqul Islam, Project Director of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge Project told BSS today.

Dewan Md Abdul Kader, executive engineer of the project, said the 32nd span– linking the 4thth and 5th piers – will be installed at Mawa end.

On June 10 last, the 31st span of the Padma Bridge was installed bringing a total of 4.650 kilometres of the structure into view.

The 6.15km-long bridge will have a total of 41 spans.
