Jibon Chowdhury, Selim Jahan receive Shaheed Qadri Memorial Book Award
DHAKA, Sept 30, 2020 (BSS) – Jiban Chowdhury and Selim Jahan received the Shaheed Qadri Memorial Book Award at the 29th New York Bangla Book Fair.
A statement issued by the Muktadhara Foundation, the organizer of the book fair in Dhaka, said the award dubbed ‘Poet Shaheed Qadri Memorial Book Award’, is only for the Bengali book writers, who live outside Bangladesh and West Bengal.
This is the first time this award has been given at the fair.
The two books which won the award are – Jiban Chowdhury’s ‘ Gaan ar ganner manush ‘ (Murdhanya) and Selim Jahan’s ‘Sholpo kotha golpo ‘ (Prothoma). Both the books were published in 2019 and were selected as the best publication.
Both the books are considered the best as they were given equal marks by the judges. The awardess will receive prize money of 500 US dollar.
The 29th New York Bangla Book Fair, held from September 18 to 26, was held virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Muktadhara Foundation organized the fair marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
