‘Odommo Bangladesh’ will help spreading IT-based innovative thinking: Speaker

DHAKA, 30 Sep, 2020 (BSS) – Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Shirin
Sharmin Chowdhury today said the book ‘Odommo Bangladesh’ will help
science-minded and information-based innovative thinking to spread
among the new generation of the country.

She said this while addressing as the chief guest of the unveiling
ceremony of the book ‘Odommo Bangladesh’ written by University Grants
Commission Professor Sajjad Hossain, said a press release.

The book will help build a modern and information technology
dependent Bangladesh, Dr Shirin said.

“The Odommo (indomitable) Bangladesh will move forward under the
leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with the thoughts,
motivations of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu,” she said.

“The remarkable progress made by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in
reducing poverty, achieving food self-sufficiency, ensuring grassroots
health services through community clinics, expanding technology,
technical education and training in job creation, encouraging startups
through unsecured youth loans.”

“Empowerment, from the conquest of the sea to the opening of the
door to the Sunil economy – every field is playing an important role
in moving Bangladesh forward,” she said.

Therefore, it is appropriate to dedicate the book to the Prime
Minister on her 74th birthday, she added.

The Speaker also said, “The foundation of indomitable Bangladesh was
laid by the hand of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. In just three
and a half years after independence, he worked on the policy,
constitution and work plan for the construction of Sonar Bangla.”

Thanking UGC prof Sajjad Hossain for the book, Shirin said, “The
book ‘Odommo Bangladesh’ focuses on various topics from the
perspective of economic development along with the need for social and
economic development in the aftermath of Covid-19, which is
commendable.”

Chaired by the Chairman of the University Grants Commission, Prof Dr
Kazi Shahidullah, UGC Member Prof Dr Abu Taher delivered the welcome
address, National Professor Dr Rafiqul Islam delivered the keynote
address and eminent writer Selina Hossain delivered the keynote
address.

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni MP, Posts, Telecommunications and
Information Technology Minister Mostafa Jabbar, Deputy Minister of
Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak, Chairman
of Bangladesh Public Service Commission Md Sohrab Hossain, Chairman of
Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited Dr Shahjahan Mahmud UGC member
Professor Biswajit Chand, and Professor Dil Afroza Begum addressed the
function as special guests.
