DHAKA, Sept 29, 2020 (BSS) – Calling for ensuring tougher action
against the alleged culprits involved with the repression on a female
student at MC College in Sylhet, Awami League Joint general secretary
Mahbubul Alam Hanif today said none will be spared who were involved
with the evil act, whatever their party affiliations.

“We want to assure the nation that BNP has given resort to the
culprits, but we are not doing this as those who are involved with
crimes are always being treated as criminals in our eyes”, he told a
discussion and doa-mahfil marking 74th birth day of Prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina at Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) auditorium
at Ramna in the city.

The offenders must be brought to book in line with the instructions
given by the prime minister, he told the function organized by the
IEB.

Countering the BNP’s statement regarding torturing on women, the
ruling party leader said, the incident which had been taken place on a
female student at MC Cllege in Sylhet is shameful and condemnable.

About the BNP leaders’ claim that the country is now experiencing
bad days and also under the grip of corruption and women torture is
rampant, Hanif said, “Corruption did not stop fully in the country but
BNP had introduced it after opening the Hawa Bhaban. You (BNP) had
spread it officially.”

During their tenure, no development works had been taken place
without paying commission to Tareque Rahman and BNP is lone party that
infused corruption in the society and the administrations, he added.

“But the present government, led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,
is wiping out the corruption,” he said, adding, “We are combating
corruption which is now being widely criticized by the BNP leaders as
they favour it.”

IEB president M Nurul Huda presided over the meeting.
