Sheikh Hasina’s 74th birthday celebrated in Rajshahi befittingly

RAJSHAHI, Sept 28, 2020 (BSS)- Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) like other various educational institutions and professional bodies here celebrated the 74th birthday of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in befitting manners today.

To mark the day, RCC arranged a number of programmes including Doa mahfil seeking long life and sound health of the premier along with her furthermore successes.

Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton accompanied by other office colleagues like councilors and officials attended the programmes.

Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) hosted a tree plantation and doa mahfil to mark Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s birthday.

City Mayor Liton and RUET Vice-chancellor (VC) Professor Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam Sheikh spoke separately on the occasions.

In his remarks, the mayor called upon the people to strengthen Sheikh Hasina’s hand in realizing Bangabandhu’s dream, development and progress of the country.

“The day Sheikh Hasina returned to this country in 1981 was a tumultuous day,” he said, adding that the people of the country welcomed her that day as she was standing alone without most of her family members.

But, despite having all difficulties, she has ensured democracy for the people of this country and at the same time established the rule of law, Liton continued.

The premier has turned the country into a digital Bangladesh, he said.

The RCC mayor also attended a discussion, doa mahfil, tree plantation and food distribution programmes organised by the Railway Shramik League at its office premises in Rajshahi city.

Rajshahi University (RU) planted trees at its campus to mark Sheikh Hasina’s birthday.

VC Prof Abdus Sobhan, Pro-vice-chancellors Prof Ananda Kumar Shaha and Prof Chowdhury Jakaria and Treasurer Prof Mustafizur Rahman Al Arif were present, among others.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Abdus Sobhan said Sheikh Hasina is taking forward the country by uniting people of all classes and professions.

Under her successful leadership, he said, after achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), Bangladesh is moving fast towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
