Condolences pour in for Attorney General Mahbubey Alam

DHAKA, Sept 27, 2020 (BSS) – Tributes and condolences continue to pour in for Attorney General Mahbubey Alam, who breathed his last this evening at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in the city at the age of 72.

Immediately after the news broke, President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed their profound shock and sorrow and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

In his condolence message, the President said Mahbubey Alam had shown extraordinary skills in handling the different cases, including Bangabandhu murder and crimes against humanity.

“He was a front-fighter in establishing the rule of law . . . His death is an irreparable loss to the country,” Hamid added.

In her condolence message, the Prime Minister said, “The nation will always recall the contribution of former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association Mahbubey Alam to the country’s law arena.”

He (Mahbubey Alam) had played an efficient role in dealing many important national legal matters as an eminent lawyer of the country, Sheikh Hasina said, adding, he always devoted himself to the law profession upon justice which will be remembered forever with due respect.
