Brazil beat Mexico 2-0 to reach quarter-finals

DHAKA, July 2, 2018 (BSS) -Mexico crashed out of the FIFA World Cup 2018 as Brazil moved in the quarterfinals beating Mexico by 2-0 goals held on Monday at Samara in Russia.

After a barren first half, Willian from the left flank sent a measured cross and Mexican goalkeeper failed to parry, Neymar just to tap it home from a hand shaking distance to give Brazil 1-0 in the 51st. minutes of the proceedings.

Substitute Robert Firmino doubled the margin for Brazil in the 88th minutes of the proceedings when he just had to tap home in an open net when Neymar’s superb minus from the left flank beat Mexican goalkeeper.

Brazil will now play against either Japan or Belgium in the quarterfinal scheduled to be held on July 6 in Kazan.

Earlier, Brazil emerged Group E champions played out to a 1-1 goal draw with Switzerland in their group opening match, defeated Costa Rica by 2-0 goals in their group second match and beat Serbia by 2-0 goals in their group third match.

On the other hand, Mexico finished Group F runners-up beat Germany by 1-0 goal in their group opening match, defeated South Korea by 2-1 goals in their group second match and lost to Sweden by 0-3 goals in t heir group third match.
