43 more positive tests for coronavirus in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Sept 18, 2020 (BSS) – Forty-three more people were tested
positive for coronavirus after testing samples today at two
laboratories in Rangpur division where spread of the deadly virus
continues to decline in recent weeks.

Health officials said the 43 new infected cases were reported after
diagnosing 282 samples collected from all eight districts in the
division at the laboratories in Rangpur and Dinajpur at the infection
rate of 15.24 percent.

Of them, 32 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples
at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in
Rangpur city.

“The new 32 patients include 11 each of Rangpur and Lalmonirhat,
five of Gaibandha, four of Kurigram and one of Nilphamari,” said Chief
of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu.

On the other hand, 11 more new patients were reported after
diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim
Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“All of the 11 new COVID-19 patients are hailing from different
places of Dinajpur district,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed
Nazir Hossain told BSS after completing the testing process at 9:50 pm
tonight.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur
division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the total number of COVID-19 patients
rose to 11,441 as 43 new cases were reported from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of the total 11,441 patients stands at
2,714 in Rangpur, 570 in Panchagarh, 994 in Nilphamari, 835 in
Lalmonirhat, 876 in Kurigram, 1,036 in Thakurgaon, 3,292 in Dinajpur
and 1,124 Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddiqui said.
