Quader mourns death of Shah Ahmed Shafi
DHAKA, Sept 18, 2020 (BSS) – Awami League General Secretary and Road
Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today expressed deep
shock and sorrow at the death of Amir of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh
Allama Shah Ahmed Shafi.
In a condolence message, he prayed for eternal peace of departed
soul and conveyed profound sympathy to bereaved family.
Quader said Shafi contributed a lot to flourishing of Islamic
education in the country. The nation has lost a noted Islamic scholar
at his death, he added.
Ahmed Shafi passed away at Asgar Ali Hospital in the capital this
evening. He was flown to Dhaka from Chattogram by a helicopter this
afternoon as his condition deteriorated.
Earlier, Ahmad Shafi was rushed to Chattogram Medical College
Hospital (CMCH) on Thursday night and admitted to the ICU unit as his
pressure and pulse rate decreased.
