64 tested COVID-19 positive in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Sept 18, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 64 people were detected positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours after testing 868 samples in five COVID-19 laboratories in Chattogram district.

Health experts opined that Corona virus infection has further decreased in Chattogram. The rate of infection and the number of infections have also decreased compared to the last few days. The latest report identified 64 new positives as the infection rate is 7.37 percent.

Among the newly detected patients, 50 are from Chattogram city and 14 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.

The total number of infected patients now stands at 18184 in Chattogram district, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, told BSS today.

Among the total 18184 coronavirus infected persons, 12,212 are the residents of the port city and the rest 4,965 are the residents of different upazilas of the district.

Besides, 1462 patients are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals in the port city as 14302 have recovered and 283 died while the rest 2137 are undergoing treatment in isolation at their respective homes in the city and district, Rabbi said.

“The healed patients were discharged from different home isolations and Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals of the district as two consecutive real-time PCR tests were found negative,” he said.

“The percentage of recovery rate stands at 78.20 percent in the district,” Rabbi, added.
