Bodies of two teenage girls recovered in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Sept 18, 2020 (BSS) – Kotwali Thana police of Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) recovered bodies of two teenage girls from their house in Ganeshpur area of the metropolis this afternoon.

“On getting information, we rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies, one of those was hanging with a ceiling fan in her bedroom and another lying on the floor there at 3 pm,” Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali Thana of RpMP Abdur Rashid told BSS.

The deceased were paternal cousins and indentified as Sumaiya Akhter Mim, 16, daughter of Moksedul Islam and Zannatul Mawa, 14, daughter of Mominul Islam of Ganeshpur area in the city.

Sumaiya appeared in the last Dakhil examinations from nearby Mulatol Aliya Madrasha and her cousin Zannatul was a student of class seven at nearby Bir Muktijoddha Tayebur Rahman High School in the city.

Talking to BSS this evening, Additional Deputy Police Commissioner (Crime) of RpMP Shahidullah Kawser said police found body of Sumaiya hanging at her bedroom and body of Zannatul with injury signs at neck and mouth on the floor of the room.

“We have sent the bodies to Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue for conducting autopsy,” Kawser said.

“Conclusive comments cannot be made right now in these ‘mysterious deaths’ before receiving the post-mortem reports and completing investigation,” he said, adding that necessary legal steps have been taken in these connections.
