DHAKA, Sept 12, 2020 (BSS)—The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is yet to take any formal decision on Shakib Al Hasan’s latest issue as the ace all-rounder is amongst the international players to go under the hammer for the Lanka Premier League (LPL) auction, which will be held on October 1.

Shakib is currently serving a ban imposed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) due to his failure to report the corrupt approaches from the bookies.

His ban will be lifted on October 29 and as his ban is going on, as per ICC guideline, he can’t be involved in any kind of cricket. Therefore the question rose, how he can be involved in the auction process for the LPL.

The BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury however said that they are yet to get any formal approach from Sri Lanka. He added, they will take the decision on this if they are approached.

“We’ve not yet received any formal approach. We will think about it if we get any proposal,” the CEO said here today.

He further said the BCB will take decision in the light of the instruction which is given the players to play any foreign domestic league. As per BCB decision, any player of Bangladesh can play two foreign domestic leagues.

“An instruction has already been given about players’ involvement in the foreign domestic league. We’ll take a decision in the light of that decision,” he informed.

Shakib is currently in BKPS to practice under the supervision of Nazmul Abedeen Fahim and Salahuddin in a bid to regain his fitness and skill. He is eying to get into the national team during the Sri Lanka tour. He won’t be eligible to play the first Test as it will be held during his ban period. However he will be free to play the second and third Test and BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon has already declared that Shakib can play those two Test matches.
