RAB arrests 4 Ansar-Al-Islam men in city
DHAKA, Sept 10, 2020 (BSS) -Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), the anti-crime elite force, detained four operatives of banned militant outfit Ansar-Al-Islam in capital’s Mirpur’s Darus Salam area.
RAB-2 (media) ASP Md Abdullah Al-Mamun told the BSS that they were arrested in drives in last 24 hours while they were taking preparation to purchase firearms for increasing their strength.
The detainees were identified as Amit Hossain alias Abul Kalam alias Sagor alias Action War, 38, Al-Amin alias Tariq, 32, Shihab Uddin, 21, and Manikuzzaman alias Manik alias Ratan alias Cycle Man.
Abdullah Al-Mamun said tipped off, a team of RAB first conducted a drive at a house in front of Hotel Royal (residential) at South Vishil area of Darus Salam Police Station last night and arrested Amit Hossain alias Action War.
Following interrogation, the ant-crime elite force arrested his other accomplices from different parts of the city today.
RAB recovered five books of extremism, nine booklets, four leaflets, one motorcycle, two Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards, three bags, one passport, three mobile phone sets and Taka 15 thousand and 235 cash from their possession.
A case was filed in this connection.
