Govt allocates 15,995 tonnes rice for Durga Puja
DHAKA, Sept 7, 2020 (BSS) – The government has allocated 15,994.5 tonnes of rice for distribution among 31,989 puja mandaps across the country for the upcoming Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of Bangalee Hindu community.
The allocation was given to deputy commissioners of all 64 districts while each puja mandap will get 500 kg rice for distribution of prashad among devotees during the Durga Puja.
Besides, 1350.5 tonnes of rice has been allocated for distribution among 2,701 Buddhist temples in 21 districts for Probarona Purnima, one of the major festivals of the Buddhist community.
The allocation was given to deputy commissioners of Narayanganj, Dinajpur, Chattogram, Noakhali, Bandarban, Khagrachhari, Cox’s Bazar, Naogaon, Sylhet, Rangpur, Feni, Barguna, Dhaka, Patuakhali, Rangamati, Cumilla, Sirajganj, Joypurhat, Thakurgaon, Barishal and Habiganj districts.
Taka 8 lakh has been allotted to Narayanganj deputy commissioner for providing humanitarian aids to victims of mosque blast in the district on September 5 last.
